Born in Kyiv studied at the National Music Academy of Ukraine and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Ronan O’Hora. Currently based in London he also benefits from artistic guidance of such great musicians as Alfred Brendel and Murray Perahia. Sasha was described by legendary Charles Rosen as “an impressive artist with remarkable, unfailing musicality always moving with the most natural, electrifying, and satisfying interpretations”. He regularly performs in most renowned concert halls throughout Europe, South and North America, Far East and Asia including Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Salle Cortot, Bridgewater Hall, Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall and Carnegie – Weill Recital Hall. Winner of over ten International competitions, prizes and awards Sasha was chosen as a Rising Star for BBC Music Magazine and International Piano Magazine. His recent successes also include Guidhall’s Wigmore Prize, 1st prize of Rio de Janeiro International Piano Competition and Guildhall School’s most prestigious award – the Gold Medal - previously won by such artists as Jacqueline Du Pre and Bryn Terfel. Future engagements include chamber music and recitals in festivals in the UK, France, Switzerland and the USA as well as concerts in Germany, Italy and South America. Katherine and Alison first met when they were both students at the Royal Academy of Music. Since then they have frequently performed in 'cello and piano duo concerts. Both of these talented young performers were awarded many prizes at the Royal Academy and have gone on to gather splendid reviews for their performances up and down the country. Both of them have received international awards since leaving college and taking up full time careers in music. Katherine gave her Wigmore Hall debut Recital in 2004, a concert that was awarded as a prize by Maisie Lewis Young Artists Scheme. In 2000 Alison was the Prize Winner at the Messiaen International Competition in Paris and in 2004 she was selected by Tillett Trust for their Young Artists Platform. BOX OFFICE 07967 481 625 Tickets £12 including a glass of wine, plus a £1 donation to charity Live music has been a prominent feature of life at The Dysart Arms for four and a half years, since our opening night featuring Ike Leo and Art Terry exploring the influence of Ray Charles. Following the initial success of fortnightly Thursday night jazz, we decided to augment the musical events, and introduced a fortnightly classical music event on Saturdays. This began with performances from the brilliant classical guitarist Peter Black, and soon grew to include pianists when we bought the Bechstein grand piano. A great debt of gratitude is owed to our friend Art Terry, an inspiring and sensitive jazz pianist, who has helped us immeasurably from the outset. Art aided us greatly in finding our beautiful 1897 Bechstein grand piano - a truly lovely instrument with immaculate rosewood bodywork and a fantastic rich timbre. The difference made by the Bechstein has been huge - we have been able to attract some more of the world's finest performers, and the overall sound and atmosphere of the events have changed dramatically, with audiences glued to the deep acoustic piano sound and ensemble with other instrumentalists. We are committed to excellent quality sound, whether it is acoustic, amplified or playback of recordings, so we have installed a state of the art sound system that is used for daily playback of selected music playlists as well as amplification of some of our more delicate instruments such as Spanish guitar or lute. The sound system includes Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers, an Audio Research Valve Stereo Amplifier, a Copland Digital Amplifier, a Yamaha mixing and effects console, and complete Transparent Audio Cabling. The dinner music programme has now increased to three nights a week. A more recent addition to the music programme is the series of Sunday evening classical recitals, on the first Sunday of every month. We transform the restaurant into a supremely intimate concert venue, and stage solo instrumentalists and duos. We have explored some fascinatingly diverse repertoire including Schubert, Barber, Liszt, Ginasteras, Beethoven, Enescu and Poulenc. We have had performances at the Sunday recitals from some fantastic talents, including award winning pianist Viv McLean, World Youth Harmonica Champion Philip Achille, Flautist Laureate William Bennett, Guildhall Gold Medalist Sasha Grynyuk, as well as many other rising stars of the classical world.
